and their Families to thrive
Staffordshire
Welcome to
KC Occupational Therapy
Hello!
I'm Karen, thankyou for being here. Setting up my own piece of OT is something I have thought about for a few years. I love working with children, young people and their families to improve the quality of their lives.
I have been working as an OT for 20 years, and Sensory Integration Practitioner for 11 years. I specialise in children and young people's mental health, neurodiversity, and special educational needs.
Have a look through my website, if you have any further queries or would like to arrange a call please drop me an email.

About Me
I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2005 from Cardiff University, and later a Post Graduate Certificate in Sensory Integration in 2015 from the University of Ulster.
I specialise in working with children and young people offering Occupational Therapy and Sensory Integration assessment and treatments.
All through my career I have specialised in working in mental health, initially with adults, and then under 25s in an Early Intervention in Psychosis Service. This ignited my fire of working with young people, which led to working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) from 2011. Throughout this time, I completed my Sensory Integration training. More recently, I have worked with an independent OT service offering OT/SI assessments and interventions supporting understanding of a child’s needs and the impacts in education as well as working in local special schools. I now work part time in the NHS alongside setting up KCOT.
My richness in understanding neurodevelopmental presentations has deepened since experiencing this journey as a parent to a child with neurodevelopmental needs and navigating all that brings for us as a family and also at school.
My favourite type of people to work with..? Anyone who is stuck, whatever reason this may be. I take an individualised approach to understanding a young person, family and their environments (home, school etc) to understand why they may be stuck and we work together to unpick this.
I aim to take a kind, honest and compassionate approach with a bit of humour thrown in!
Occupational Therapy for children is all about their interests.. so what we do has to be fun!
